Whats going on in the studio

Whats going on in my studio? currently im working on two peices the first one is a duffel race bag.  Inspired by my boyfriends race team "BRT racing".  Its designed to be carried as both a duffel bag or be interchangeable into a backpack in order to make carrying easier on the track.

My second Project im working on is my competition Garment for Dallas Career Day.  My Inspiration was Antoine Pevsner/ constructivism, he was a sculpture who worked alot in a black media. His work reminded me alot of gothic style so i got the idea of a gothic styled dress.  The more research i did on gothic dress the more inspired i was on the wedding dress attributes that gothic dress contains.  i came up with the idea of making a gothic styled wedding dress, complete with a feathered collar and a complete corsetted top.

Step 1: i am working on a leather underdress.

lace for the train thats goin to attach

Tuesday November 6th 2012 will mark the 57th presidential election of the United States.  That gives the next 11 months for fashion trends to lean towards the patriotic side of the industry.  I dont believe that the clothing styles will only resemble patriotic symbols but will also take into consideration the different view points of both parties.  in this next year's clothing forecast i picture clothing having Democratic and Republican stand points.  we should be able to look at clothing on the runway and be able to figure out the political view point of the designer.  Clothing is a way we express ourselves as individuals, and i believe designers will take their views into consideration in designing this years line.

stripped blouses and rich red colors might be a trend we see fashioned on the streets.

Drapped Clothing that resymbols that of the statue of liberty might also be a trend that we see in 2012 leading up to the election.

comfy vs. Styled

College life for most of us is four years of late night study sessions in the library, constant stress over grades, and repeated sleepless nights.  I am currently taking a full semester of school as well as working one full time job and one part time job to pay all my bills.  This demanding timeline means i no longer show up to class in high end designs but generally fashion athletic clothes and casual combinations that allow me to catch any extra minute of sleep as i can. For this post id like to explore the college fashion: comfy vs. styled.

Live to Inspire

Live to inspire; inspiration comes with in the hearts of ourselves as well as our peirs.  As individuals we our accustomed to learn and grow from each other.  We share experiences, love, faith, failures, all of lifes many lessons.  I have been blessed to have people in my life that have shapped who i am and have inspired me to follow my dreams. It is through laughter at the dinner table with my family, that my design inspiration takes place.  These moments not only inspire me as a designer but as well as an individual.
